This is version 2.0 of the Self-Insert Webring. Version 1.0 was hosted on Neocities and coded using
JavaScript, using a hand-updated JSON file to add and update members. Version 2.0 is created using
PHP and MySQL in addition to JavaScript and - ideally - should be completely automated! Once you sign up for an account, you
provide your information so that you can display a JavaScript widget like the one below on your website:
Once you select your character(s), you will also be automatically added to the members list where the same information
will be displayed. Since this version of the webring runs using PHP, you can update and change your information whenever you want!
The idea of this webring is to allow anyone to have a cute little badge on their website that shows their relationship (whether platonic
or romantic) with a certain character! There are not very many rules to join, but here they are:
1.) Some characters may be claimed more than once! This is not really a rule, but more of a notice. You might see
the character that you chose listed more than once.
2.) If your website has 18+ content, you will need to mark it when you sign up. This will mark your site as 18+ on the
members list. This is to prevent anyone from stumbling upon such content accidentally.
3.) Please keep the information you choose to display mostly appropriate. Don't choose images or text that would exceed
what you might see in a PG-13 movie, since all of this will be available to see on the members list. The actual character can be
from adult media as long as the image is generally appropriate, and your site can contain adult content as long as you mark it properly.
4.) Your linked website must not contain discriminatory or hateful content. There's no room for that here.
5.) Multiple characters in one listing are allowed, but the format might be wonky, especially if they are from different
series. You may have to experiment with how you phrase your information to make sure that it fits within the widget.
